Maca – The mad radish

Cultivated for over 3000 years at around 4000 m above sea level in the Peruvian Andes, maca grows only slowly under harsh climactic conditions, amassing an astonishing wealth of nutritionally valuable substances as it matures. The yellow root was already a preferred food during the Inca period.

Several historical sources indicate that the plant played a key role in the cultural prosperity of that period. According to the inhabitants of the Andes, those who enjoy maca today are still equally active and strong, enjoying good health over the course of long lives.
